The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Basics is a live, online training series that is designed specifically for community development practitioners at the local level. This course is meant as a back-to-basics presentation for new CDBG practitioners and can be a refresher for managers.  This webinar series will share the latest information on the background of the program, national objective compliance, eligible activities, housing and other common activities (e.g., public services, facilities, etc.). HUD’s new NSPIRE (National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate) sets updated requirements for HUD-assisted housing inspections. This two-part training is tailored for local government staff administering HOME and CDBG programs, as well as PHAs. Participants will learn about HUD’s transition timeline, the new scoring and deficiency structure, and the eight inspectable areas, along with practical guidance on deficiency levels, remediation actions, and reporting requirements. The seminar includes demonstrations, a case study, and Q&A to prepare teams for full NSPIRE compliance.
