New to CDBG

New to CDBG? You’re in the right place! See below resources for new CDBG professionals looking to skill up, or experts looking to re-hone their skills.

Join the New to Community Development Cohort. This group of early-career (1-3 years) professionals and more seasoned career professionals gets together every month for informal conversations on everything community development, from the technical skills required, to the soft skills to develop. The only pre-requisite is to take the Welcome to Community Development - What Now? training. Once you're signed up, a member of the NACCED staff will reach out to get you enrolled in the cohort.

HUD Exchange. Find and explore the landing pages for HUD's programs, systems, and related topics to help you administer your programs.

Join the Community & Economic Development Committee. This members-only committee meets the second Thursday of the month at 3:30 pm eastern. Here, members at all levels of their careers meet to compare successes and challenges in implementing their programs, and hear from national-level speakers. Send a note to NACCED Policy Director Josh Brandwein at [email protected] for the details on how to attend.

Take CDBG Basics and Welcome to Community Development on demand trainings! As a part of NACCED’s training courses, we offer CDBG Basics just about every year, and in 2026, introduced Welcome to Community Development - What Now? training. Can’t wait until the next one?
